Chairman Yoon, Sukhun
Chairman Yoon, Sukhun has had a vision for the Asia-Pacific era from an early stage. In 1985, he established the Asia-Pacific Economic and Cultural Research Institute, a private consultative body among Korea, China, and Japan, and has been operating it ever since.
Through private diplomacy, he has worked to revitalize corporate exchanges between nations, promote mutual economic and cultural cooperation, advanced technology exchange, and investment facilitation — not only with ASEAN countries but also by maintaining close and special relationships with top-level figures in Central Asia and Africa. In particular, he has a strong interest in economic cooperation and growth in Africa.
Chairman's Message
The Asia Economic Development Committee is an NGO established to explore new avenues for companies from Korea, China, and Japan—not only within East Asia but extending to the Middle East and Africa—and to identify concrete and practical ways to achieve this.
Accounting for 66% of Asia’s total GDP and 24% of the world’s GDP, Korea, China, and Japan possess the greatest influence in both the Asian and global markets. These three countries are striving to leverage their respective strengths to contribute to the global economy and to seek the best approaches for supporting the economic growth of Middle Eastern countries and developing nations, particularly in Africa.
As we enter the digital era, we are working to find specific, long-term and sustainable ways—beyond one-off aid—to support less developed African countries. In order to efficiently advance technology and capital investment, we are establishing a joint consultative body through cooperation among Korea, Japan, China, and Taiwan. In other words, the four countries—Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan—have built a system to enable selective technology partnerships and effective investment and cooperation where they are most needed.
You will thus experience a new form of economic cooperation unlike the economic organizations you may be familiar with.
Until the day when economic justice among nations flows like a mighty river—from the high places to the low—we will make every effort to realize the world we all dream of.
